Upcoming Harley-Davidson Custom 1250 Expected Launch Date
The Custom 1250 is one of the new models that Harley-Davidson announced in 2018. It is based on a modular platform that will also be the base for its upcoming streetbike, and as the name suggests, it will have a 1250cc engine. The bike was originally scheduled to launch in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, it got delayed. Now, according to some sources¹, the Custom 1250 is expected to launch in India in August 2023. We’ll have to wait for Harley-Davidson’s confirmation.
The Custom 1250 will be a premium cruiser bike that will compete with the likes of BMW R18, Kawasaki Z900RS and Indian Chief Dark Horse. It will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) from the US, which means it will attract high taxes and duties. Therefore, we can expect the Custom 1250 to be priced around Rs. 16-17 lakh (ex-showroom) in India¹.Some consumers may find this pricey, but the bike’s brand, style, and amenities may make it worth it.
The Custom 1250 will be powered by a 1250cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine that is also used in the Pan America 1250 adventure bike. However, unlike the Pan America 1250 that produces 150PS and 127Nm of torque, the Custom 1250 will have a more conservative output of 122PS and 125Nm of torque. This is still a respectable amount of power and torque for a cruiser bike, and it will make the acceleration an absolute thrill. A smooth-shifting six-speed gearbox will regulate the engine.
The mileage of the Custom 1250 is not known yet, as Harley-Davidson has not revealed any official figures. However, based on the engine specifications and the fuel capacity of 11.8 liters², we can estimate that the bike will offer a mileage of around 19-20 kmpl on average. This isn’t great for a cruiser bike, but considering its power and performance, some riders may be satisfied.
The dimensions of the Custom 1250 are also not known yet, as Harley-Davidson has not disclosed any details. The bike’s photos and videos so far suggest a strong and aggressive attitude with a low-slung seat and a high-mounted exhaust. The bike will also have large front and wide rear tires for stability and road grip. The bike may weigh 250-260 kg and have a 1500-1600 mm wheelbase.
The ground clearance of the Custom 1250 is also not known yet, as Harley-Davidson has not shared any information. The bike’s look and planned use as a cruiser suggest a moderate ground clearance of 150–160 mm. This will allow the bike to handle some bumps and potholes on the road without scraping its underbelly or exhaust.
The seat height of the Custom 1250 is also not known yet, as Harley-Davidson has not revealed any data. The bike’s single-seat layout and cowl1 suggest a low seat height of 750–800 mm.. This will make it easy for riders of different heights to mount and dismount the bike comfortably.
The look of the Custom 1250 is one of its most striking features. Harley-Davidson’s contemporary Sportster is a head-turner. New bike has a muscular fuel tank, a round LED headlamp, a digital instrument cluster, a flat handlebar, a single-seat with a cowl, and dual exhaust pipes that give it a bold and unmistakable presence on the road. The bike also has a blacked-out theme that adds to its stealthy and sporty appeal. The bike will be available in three colors: Vivid Black, Stone Washed White Pearl and Midnight Crimson².
The Custom 1250 is not just a looker, but also a feature-packed bike that offers modern technology and convenience. The bike features a comprehensive digital instrument cluster that provides vital information at a glance. The bike also has advanced electronics, including multiple riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS and cruise control, that enhance safety and performance. New bike also has LED lighting system that ensures excellent visibility, and a keyless ignition system that adds a touch of convenience. The bike also has Bluetooth connectivity that allows the rider to access phone calls, music and navigation through the instrument cluster or a headset.
The Custom 1250 is an exciting and promising bike from Harley-Davidson that will appeal to cruiser lovers who want a powerful, stylish and feature-rich bike. The bike is expected to launch in India in August 2023, and it will be priced around Rs. 16-17 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike will offer a 1250cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine that produces 122PS and 125Nm of torque, along with modern features like digital instrument cluster, riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS and cruise control.
